Understanding Frame Rates

What is FPS?

FPS (Frames Per Second) measures how many individual images are displayed each second. Higher FPS results in smoother motion and reduced blur during fast movements.

Common Frame Rates:

  • 30 FPS: Cinematic standard, acceptable for video content
  • 60 FPS: Standard for smooth gaming and modern displays
  • 120 FPS: High refresh rate gaming, very smooth
  • 144 FPS: Popular esports standard, ultra-smooth
  • 240 FPS: Professional competitive gaming, maximum smoothness

Requirements:

To see the difference, your monitor must support the frame rate (e.g., 144Hz monitor for 144 FPS). Your browser must also maintain the frame rate - lower system performance will limit actual FPS.
